The St. Onge-Newell Sheep Yards, Newell, South Dakota, reported receipts of 852 head June 1, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

No comparisons are iin the report due to low volume. The offering consisted of 54% feeder lambs and the balance was slaughter ewes and bucks.

Slaughter lambs: Shorn Good and Choice 2 to 3, 50 head, 129 lbs., 159.00.

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 29 head, 153 lbs., 48.00; 124 head, 183 lbs., 54.00. Good 3 to 4, 13 head, 224 lbs., 49.00. Utility 1 to 2, 70 head, 154 lbs., 57.00. Cull 1, 39 head, 136 lbs., 45.00.

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 65 to 66 lbs., 201.00 to 226.00 (210.71); 72 to 78 lbs., 225.00 to 227.00 (226.10); 75 lbs., 224.00 full; 92 to 93 lbs., 214.50 to 216.00 (214.85); 12 head, 107 lbs., 142.00.

Pairs: 3 ewes/5 lambs, ewes weighed 175 lbs., 230.00 per head

Slaughter bucks: Medium flesh, 15 head, 239 lbs., 54.00 per cwt. medium to thin, 3 head, 230 lbs., 31.00 per cwt. thin, 8 head, 223 lbs., 49.00 per cwt.
